Purpose
The purpose of this site is to make official school date information easier to browse, compare and use for family planning. The structure is Australia → State → Year, so users can start nationally and then move to the state and year they need.
Who this site is for
This site is built for parents, carers, teachers and anyone else who needs to plan around Australian school terms — whether that’s booking family travel, arranging childcare, coordinating shift work around school holidays, or simply working out when Term 1 starts next year. Because coverage spans all eight states and territories, it’s also useful for families who split time between states, or who are comparing holiday timing before an interstate move.
How this site is built and kept up to date
Every state and year page on this site starts from the term dates published by that state or territory’s own education department, plus the relevant state and national public holiday lists. Each page links directly to the official source it was built from, so you can always verify the current figures yourself rather than taking this site’s word for it.
Dates are checked and refreshed as new official calendars are published, and the “last updated” note near the bottom of each year page reflects when that page was last reviewed against its source. Years marked as not yet available are years where the relevant government department has not yet published confirmed dates — this site does not publish estimated or unofficial future dates. See the data & methodology page for the full detail on how figures are calculated and verified.
Sources
Dates should be checked against official education department and government public holiday sources, all of which are linked from the relevant state and year pages. No responsibility is taken for errors or omissions, and government, Catholic, independent and private schools can all set their own variations on top of the base dates shown here.
Contact and corrections
Spotted a date that looks wrong, or a source that’s changed? Please refer to the official education department and public holiday source links listed on each page to confirm the correct figure, then report it on the corrections page — it explains exactly what to include and what happens after you submit it. For anything else, use the contact page.
